Campfire cooking, it’s not only fun but a huge part of camping! We’ve found there’s a vast range of things you can cook on the campfire. From lasagne to the traditional roast, bacon and eggs and fresh bread the options really are endless.
We have cone up with the items that are always in our campfire cooking kit.
1. Cast Iron Oven
A cast iron oven is such a useful piece of kit because it’s a bit of an all rounder. You can cook just about anything in it from stews and roast meats as well as those yummy golden syrup dumplings for dessert. 2. Foil Trays
Foil trays are great for cooking things like lasagne and golden syrup dumplings in. They save spillage into the cast iron ovens. They also double as a serving tray and container for storing leftovers. You can find them in most two dollar shops or Woolworths.
3. Camp Oven Lid Lifter
A camp oven lid lifter is exactly that. It’s used to lift the camp oven lids and comes in extra handy when you need to tap some coals off the top of an oven. Ours is available here: Dutch Oven Lid Lifter | Wastin Time Wisely
4. Cast Iron Skillet
The cast iron skillet is perfect to throw on the campfire for those breakfast cookups!
Eggs, snags and bacon go perfectly in the skillet.
5. Long Tongs
Long tongs come in very handy and when cooking on the campfire and you want to keep your eyebrows on!
6. Campfire Gloves
Campfire gloves are just about the most important item to have in your campfire cooking kit. You want to eat what you have been cooking, not tending to burns.
7. Billy Can
The billy can is especially important for those morning coffee’s. BUT it’s also useful for boiling water for washing up, heating soups and even cooking pasta. 8. Campfire Tripod

9. Zippo Firefast Torch
Get the fire easily started with a Zippo firefast torch. Those coals will be glowing in no time with this lighter. 10. Paper Towel
Paper Towel in your campfire cooking kit will be a life saver. From wiping out the camp oven and re seasoning it to cleaning up spills and drying dishes. You’ll be glad you have the paper towel!
